Friedrich Naumann Foundation

The Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom is a foundation in the Federal Republic of Germany devoted to the promotion of liberal principles and to political education. The goal of the foundation is to advance the principles of freedom and dignity for all people in all areas of society, both in Germany and abroad.

The Friedrich Naumann Foundation is active in over 60 countries around the world, spanning Europe, Africa, Asia, North and Central America. Within these project countries, our regional offices work to support human rights, rule of law, and democracy.

Liberal International

Liberals are committed to build and safeguard free, fair and open societies, in which they seek to balance the fundamental values of liberty, equality and community, and in which no-one is enslaved by poverty, ignorance or conformity. Liberalism champions the freedom, dignity and well-being of individuals. Liberalism acknowledge and respect the right to freedom of conscience and the right of everyone to develop their talents to the full.

Liberalism aims to disperse power, to foster diversity and to nurture creativity. The freedom to be creative and innovative can only be sustained by a market economy, but it must be a market that offers people real choices. This means that Liberals want neither a market where freedom is limited by monopolies or an economy disassociated from the interests of the poor and of the community as a whole. Liberals are optimistic at heart and trust the people while recognising the need to be always vigilant of those in power.

Liberal Democrats

The Liberal Democrats exist to build and safeguard a fair, free and open society, in which we seek to balance the fundamental values of liberty, equality and community, and in which no one shall be enslaved by poverty, ignorance or conformity. We champion the freedom, dignity and well-being of individuals, we acknowledge and respect their right to freedom of conscience and their right to develop their talents to the full.

We aim to disperse power, to foster diversity and to nurture creativity. We believe that the role of the state is to enable all citizens to attain these ideals, to contribute fully to their communities and to take part in the decisions which affect their lives.

VVD International is responsible for the international contacts and cooperation of the VVD. The main objective is to realize, maintain and strengthen relationships with sister parties around the world and to participate in the umbrella international liberal organizations.

One of the spearheads is to contribute to the capacity building of liberal parties in Eastern Europe, the Balkans and the Middle East and North Africa. The latter is partly realized by the MATRA Political Parties Program of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

As a very internationally oriented party, D66 also works outside the Dutch borders on a sustainable, democratic and open society. Central to this are human rights and free and fair elections which are a basic condition for a democratic society. This is done, among other things, through cooperation with liberal sister parties. For example, D66 supports the International Democratic Initiative (IDI) foundation .

This foundation plays a central role in stimulating democratization processes and supporting socio-liberal ideas in Central and Eastern Europe, Turkey and North Africa.
D66 supports democratization in Africa, Asia and Latin America through the Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy (NIMD) .
