Afek Tounes
In addition to being the secretary general of the Youth Institute of her party, Afek Tounes, Dhouha Debaya is also a member of Forum Jeunes, a youth forum funded by the Friedrich Naumann Foundation. Dhouha ran as the fourth candidate on the list in Tunisia’s legislative elections in 2019.
Dhouha represented Tunisian youth in the NIMD Jordan School of Politics’ program on improving youth groups in countries. She took part in the “Med Dialogue for Rights and Equality 2030,” where she worked as part of a team to create a manifesto to be presented to the United Nations. She was elected to represent her party in the 2018 Liberal International Congress in Dakar and has been chosen for a training session at the International Academy for Leadership in Germany by the Friedrich Naumann Foundation.
Dhouha, a licensed communication, entrepreneurship, and employability trainer for the American organization WeYouth, leads training workshops on successful tactics for young people to adopt when looking for work or starting their enterprises.
Dhouha fights for women’s empowerment and encourages women in her community to become more involved. She recently took part in the “Generation an Avenir” initiative, which aims to eliminate sexual harassment.
She attended the Tunisian School of Politics.
Our mission and vision
The network’s mission is to support and empower political parties, organisations, networks, think tanks and individuals, to grow their support, to increase their influence on politics and implement policies of good governance when in government.
In partnership with our members and strategic partners, the network advocates for values of freedom and the individual choice of association across the continent by:
• Championing Liberal policy solutions to Africa’s challenges;
• Capacitating Liberal Democratic member parties with innovative skills, necessary to win elections and lead governments;
Providing a platform for like-minded advocates of good governance, to network and share experience, skills and ideas;
All members of the network are bound by statutory obligations affirming allegiance to ensure the freedoms and dignity of all people, through establishing political and civil rights, upholding the rule of law, supporting democratic governance based on free and fair elections with peaceful transition, ensuring religious, gender and minority rights, fighting corruption and supporting economic freedom, regional integration and free trade opportunities, like the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
