Leaders and representatives of ALN member parties attended the 55th Congress of Liberal International which was held in Belfast 15-17 May. Keynote speeches and presentations were made by President Abdoulaye Wade of Senegal and MDC leader Morgan Tsvangarai, who both addressed the audience at the official opening of the Congress; DA leader, Helen Zille, who presented one of the congress theme papers,For an Inclusive Society; ANADER’s Blaise Tagamu who presented a report to the Human Rights Committee on the issue of child soldiers in the DRC; Pr. Ibrahim Lipumba, CUF National Chairman, and Wavel Ramkalawan, SNP leader, who were speakers on a panel discussion on the threats of climate change to poverty alleviation and economic growth in Africa and strategies to promote adaptation in the most vulnerable countries.
